A former Wayne State College baseball pitcher is going pro. Twenty-three
year old Bobby St. Pierre graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, while also being a star pitcher for the Wayne State College baseball team. He plans to play the 2017-2018 year in Canada.

Head Coach Alex Koch said St. Pierre transferred from another institution. He only played at Wayne State College for one year, but in
that time, was able to pitch many winning games.

“Bobby was Wayne State’s number one pitcher,” Koch said. “He pitches speeds in the upper 80s, lower 90s.”

A fast ball in the 90s can abruptly strike someone out. Koch said that the velocity Bobby throws at and his attitude makes him a professional baseball player.

“Bobby plans to play in the U.S. however he transitioned from summer
league into the Canadian American Pro Ball League,” Koch said.

“Bobby had the physical aspects in the weight room,” Kirk Clark, the assistant coach who recruited Bobby for Wayne State College said.

Clark was also St. Pierre’s pitching coach, and said that the team admired his leadership, and will continue to look up to a leader like St. Pierre.
