The Wildcats soccer team kicked off the season last Sunday against Midland University in a friendly scrimmage.

The scrimmage ended in a score of 3-2 in favor of Midland.

“Midland is a very good team and gave us a good game last spring as well,” said Hannah Knight, a senior forward.

“They threw a little different formation at us, but once we made the adjustments we were playing our game.”

The match result will not show up on the Wildcats’ record, because it was only a scrimmage.

Team members said they are ready to get into the full swing of the season. Hopes are high as usual and the team is confident that success is in the future.

“We will have good depth off the bench and we will need that against our opponents,” said junior Karlee Hall. “I think we will have a good chance at conference with this group of girls.”

The last conference game for the Wildcats is Oct. 29, before the conference tournament starts.

The team has a large freshman class, with six new faces.

“I like the freshmen,” Hall said. “They are a great addition to the program. They have a lot of potential.”

Team members are exhibiting a sense of optimism for the season and for the direction the team is heading. The next home game is Sunday versus Colorado Christian University. The match begins at 11 a.m.
