Student Senate held a brief meeting on Sunday lasting 15 minutes, just a week after its last one.

President Matt Mullins was sick, so Vice President Kelley Robinson headed the meeting. Reviewing old news which ranged from vacant seats on the judicial board to the incoming phone charging stations went quickly.

The three-seat judicial board had not been filled as of this meeting, and Senators don’t know when that will happen. The phone-charging stations should be up and running by the end of this semester, according to Robinson, with a delay caused by having the wrong technology for student identification cards ordered by the installing company.

Wayne State’s radio station, 91.9 The Cat, confirmed in an email to the Student Senate that it had received the $500 allocated to purchase a new app that will play more modern music, such as hip-hop.

Lilly Roberts of the Wayne State College curling team asked the Senate for financial aid for the upcoming competition at the curling national tournament held in New York.

The top 16 teams in the nation are invited to participate, with WSC ranking in the top ten. This is only the third year WSC has had the club curling team.

The Student Senate granted the club $450 for hotel expenses.

“We really enjoy helping sports clubs, and we like to see them succeed,” Robinson said “They put in a lot of their own money, so the least we can do is pay for a couple of hotel rooms.”

Student Senate wrapped up the meeting with discussion of Casino Night. Senators ended the meeting by working on their card dealing skills for Tuesday nights event.
