Open Mic with Judas Goat

Zee Elmer, Staff Writer

The first Judas Goat open mic of the semester was held on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Miss Molly’s Coffee.

The Judas Goat is a literary magazine composed of original fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry and artwork created by Wayne State College students. It is compiled by students in Editing and

Publishing and the cover is designed by Wayne State alum Sharon Cole.

“The Judas Goat encompasses so many different vibes,” Judas Goat open mic organizer Sadie Miller said. “When people submit their work to it, it’s a stepping stone for them as a writer or artist. The open mic is vital to the voice of the artists that get published in the Judas Goat.”

Open mics are free to attend and perform at. The organizers encourage the public to come to the open mics and read their work.

“I think the open mic shows a lot of the talent we have in Wayne,” poetry and fiction slam organizer Nate Neary said. “It’s good prep. The slam is a big deal and the open mic helps get everyone warmed up.”

The next open mic will take place on Nov. 9, when the 49th issue of the Judas Goat will be released.
