World Heart Day
October 27, 2016
Wayne State College cardiac rehab students, Wayne Rotary Club, Iglesia Apostolica de la Fe en Cristos Jesus and the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department came together to have a community event held at the Wayne City Auditorium.
“Enriching the community through projects like World Heart Day is something that the Wayne Rotary club is very passionate about. This program helped the community’s youth learn more about how to live a heart healthy life, which is something they can apply throughout their lives,” Kristy Hansen, a junior at WSC, said.
This event provided blood pressure screenings, heart healthy snacks, information on the heart, and heart healthy activities for the whole family.
“My favorite part of the event was getting to listen to the speakers at the event, such as Dean Jacobs, and learning a lot of new information about heart health,” Sarah Warga, a senior at WSC, said. “This event is necessary and beneficial to the community in order to better the health of our current residents.”
This was a family friendly event put together to provide information about the heart and to celebrate World Heart Day.
“I think communities all over should put events on like this,” Riley Lang, a junior at WSC, said. “It’s a great way to bring a community together and provide information for people of all ages in a fun learning environment.”
