More music at Wayne State

Joseph Lovercheck, Staff Writer

This is a busy time of year for the WSC music department. There will be two concerts next week.

The WSC Concert Choir and Chorale will have its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. next Monday in Ramsey Theatre.

The theme for the Chorale will be “Home is Where the Heart Is.” It will perform songs like “Duh tvoj blagi (Let Thy Good Spirit)” by Pavel Chesnokov, “Out of the Morning” by Daniel Hall and “I’m Goin’ Home” by Phil Pfaltzgraff.

The Concert Choir will perform “No Time” by Susan Brumfield, “Sure on this Shining Night” by Morten Lauridsen, “The Road Home” by Stephen Paulus and “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor” by Irving Berlin.

For the finale, the two choirs will join forces with the WSC Wind Ensemble’s brass and percussion sections to perform “Homeland” by Z. Randall Stroope.

The Wildcat Big Band will be in concert on Thursday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Ramsey Theatre.

The group will perform a set of “Animal Jazz,” which will include the songs “Cats Have No Eyebrows,” “A Little Bird Told Me” and more by jazz composers Lennie Niehaus, Charles Mingus and Jeff Jarvis.

Both concerts are free and open to the public.
