Passionate about art

Local artist and student Morgan Bentley will have her work displayed on campus and in Wayne a few times in the month of April.

“I’ve always had a strong interest in art and considered myself somewhat good at it. I think the most important thing WSC really taught me is how to find my style. I could always copy an image or work already done by someone, but now I’m able to form my own original ideas and build off them,” Bentley said.

Bentley chose to become a studio arts major because that is what she is the most passionate about.

Places previously showcasing Bentley’s, work include the fall semesters poetry contest, and the recent senior showcase that closed this last Monday.

Bentley will also have her artwork displayed next Thursday.

Graduating in December, Bentley is looking forward to what she will be doing after life in college with one semester left.

“I am constantly reminded of how hard it is to find a job in my field, but I’d much rather end up with a low-paying job that allows me to create on the side than have a high-paying 9 to 5 that I hate,” Bentley said.

While in college, Bentley says her favorite memory was her travel abroad experience to Greece.

Bentley enjoyed being immersed in the different cultures in Europe. This included taking in the different types of architecture, food and activities.

“I went my sophomore year in 2014 and learned so much more than a classroom or a book could ever teach me,” Bentley said.

She plans to join the Peace Corps after college, continuing her travels.
