Just one call away

Courtney Upah, Staff Writer

Students who are unable to drive their car back on campus, or lost their parking spot and can’t find a new area to leave their car, need not fear.

Students need only to contact the Wayne Police Department at (402) 375-2626, and request permission to park. These requests will then be considered to leave a vehicle in an area that specifies “no parking midnight to 5 p.m.” or “no parking 3-5:30 a.m.” However, vehicles are still not allowed to park on private property, so the above mentioned rules would not apply.

When calling into the police station students must be able to provide the phone number of the driver or owner, location of the vehicle, the state and license plate number along with the reason for calling in the request.

If all of the above information is not provided then the request is not valid. These requests for permission to park are only available for city streets and is only allowed a maximum of three nights in a row, unless the student had requested permission to park previously for extenuating circumstances.

So any student afraid of getting a ticket should call the Wayne Police Department and ask for permission to park.
