Busy week for WSC music department

In the next ten days, the WSC Music Department will host three musical events.

 

The first is the Woodwind Chamber Ensembles Concert on Monday. This event will feature the WSC Flute Choir, Clarinet Choir and the Saxophone Quartet. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Ley Theatre.

 

Selections for this show will range from polkas to classical to ragtime to jazz.

 

The second show will be the WSC Keyboard Students in concert on Thursday. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. in Ramsey Theatre.

 

Soloists will perform a variety of different composers, including Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Schumann, Debussy and Satie. The Keyboard Ensemble, directed by piano instructor Angela Miller-Niles, will perform repertoire that includes a quartet by CPE Bach and the spiritual “Wade in the Water.”

 

The final show will be on Friday, featuring Karl Kolbeck, assistant professor of Woodwinds at WSC.

 

Kolbeck will perform a solo recital featuring contemporary works for clarinet and bass clarinet.

 

The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Ley Theatre. The recital will also feature the collaborative piano talents of Philip Pfaltzgraff and works by Brian Balmages, Kathy Henkel, Rick Sowash, and Paul Jeanjean.
