‘Stepping Against Stigma’ with Active Minds

One of the busiest groups on campus is “active” even in its title.

Active Minds hosts a variety of events on campus, including Eating Disorder Awareness Week, National Day without Stigma and Veteran’s Day, as well bringing in guest speakers to share their stories or experiences with mental illness in order to help spread knowledge about the issues.

“Active Minds is a student-led organization that works towards raising mental health awareness on campus and within the community, raising funds for mental health research, educating peers on signs and symptoms of mental health issues and urging people to seek help when needed,” club president Courtney Paul said.

“We host an annual walk called ‘Step Against Stigma,’ where we walk around Wayne and attempt to inform campus and surrounding communities on the truth about mental health,” Paul said.
This year’s walk will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on April 16 starting at the Willow Bowl.

Active Minds meets Tuesdays at 3:30 in the Meadowlark room of the Student Center.
