Andrea DeSimone places first in the 5,000 meter run in the Wildcat Outdoor Classic.

The Wildcat men’s and women’s track and field teams competed yesterday at home in the 10th Annual Wildcat Outdoor Classic.

 

A variety of competitors participated, including Briarcliff, Iowa Western Community, Midland and Nebraska-Kearney. WSC had many high-scoring competitors.

 

Brian Dunn scored a NCAA provisional mark in weight throw, and Cortland Cassidy (top picture, #8) placed 3rd with a quick time of 16:15 in the 5,000 meter run.

 

Other top finishes for the men include junior Nick Schmit, who placed second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:12.74, and sophomore Braxton Adams, who took third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.78.
Andrea DeSimone (bottom picture, #2) finished first for the women’s team, with a time of 19:58 in the 5,000 meter run. Another first place finisher for the Wildcats was Kacie O’Connor, who posted a top throw of 149’ 2” to achieve an NCAA provisional mark.
