The lady Wildcats made it to the finals in the Bunny Bash tournament at the University of South Dakota, winning five out of their six games Saturday.

“The whole weekend was great. As a team we really came together as a unit as we faced some good competition,” junior  said.

The quarterfinal was against Northern State, and WSC won 28-7.

The Lady ‘Cats then moved to the semifinals against Sioux Falls and won 28-0.

However, when WSC made it to the finals, they faced off against the tough Iowa Hawkeyes. The ‘Cats suffered their only loss, 28-14.

“Iowa had some really athletic, fast players,” rugby coach Darrin Barner said. “We came out a little rusty and a little flat, which is common for the first game of the year.”

The competition was in the new indoor football field at South Dakota State.

The field can hold around 1,000 people, and the stands were packed for this completion.

“It should be a great season. We have a lot of talent on this team, both new and old, and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds,” Kirkpatrick said.

The rugby team will have their next games against Ohio State and the University of Michigan in St. Louis on March 19.
