Barbara Simcoe’s exhibition “Liminal Space” will be presented by the WSC Department of Art & Design starting Wednesday, Feb. 24, and running until March 24.

Simcoe’s show is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and all shows end at noon on the closing day.

On Wednesday, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., an opening reception will take place in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery, located on the second floor of the fine arts building.

There will also be an artist’s talk from 3:45-4:15 p.m. in Gardner Auditorium. These events are free and open to the public.

Simcoe’s figurative imagery is exclusively female. She is interested in the breadth of feminine archetypes. Simcoe captures the archetypes in various media to create metaphors.

Receiving her formal art training at the University of Illinois, Urbana and the University of North Texas, Denton, she has been working as an artist for more than 30 years. She is the professor of art and art history at UNO.

At UNO she has taught painting and drawing since 1998.
