Following the damaging tornadoes that hit Wayne and its surrounding areas, rebuilding is still taking place. The Airport Authority is looking to borrow a sum of money from the City of Wayne Electric Fund for improvements as a loan, to be paid back.
“We aren’t looking for handouts,” Nancy Braden said at last night’s city council meeting. “The airport will pay it back.”
The tornado left around $2 million in damages. Insurance did not cover $185,000 of that sum, and now the airport is seeking a loan in the amount of $70,000.
Council member Nick Muir praised Braden for the hard work already being done to the airport, and the resolution was passed.
