Keeping up with Kadra

Kadra Sommersted-Simmons, Columnist

I wish so much that I lived closer to home for a number of reasons.

Growing up my parents and brother were my best friends, and I spent the majority of my free time with them. Rather than going out with friends, I would stay home and play board games with my family.

I hear many people say their mom, dad or sibling is their best friend. I would say the same thing, but I truly mean it because they are who I went to for everything and still do.

My favorite road trips are going to see my family, and my least favorite are driving back to Wayne. My support system is all the way in my hometown, two hours away.

I never knew how much I would miss them and my hometown until I couldn’t visit them for three months due to school and work. Thankfully, my current job allows that to be more often.

I have learned to cherish the time with my family even more, and I can’t wait to see them again.

Cherish your families and enjoy your time home, that’s what I think college is all about.
