WSC students trick or treat themselves at the Haunted Trail

The Wayne State College Drama Club set out to animate the dark, terrifying suspense of the Halloween Season with the Haunted Trail, which ran from Friday through Tuesday.

WSC students aimed to entertain all ages while creating spirited energy and displaying creativity throughout the annual event.

“The Haunted Trail has been going well, though the weather has been less than ideal,” said Brian Begley, WSC assistant professor of theatre and director of technical theatre.

He said the trail has been a tradition for many years, and fits well with the creativity of the Wildcat drama students.

The proceeds generated by the event benefit numerous theatre activities. These events include sponsoring student-produced theatre, providing volunteers for touring companies that come to campus to assist with technical needs, assisting the drama club when it participates in campus-wide events (such as homecoming), and providing volunteers for hosting high school One-Act Play competitions on campus, among other activities for the WSC Drama Club.

This year, the proceeds have benefitted the “Black Shirt Drama Day,” which was a first annual high school theatre event. Students served as hosts and offered workshops.

Katie Bitter, Wayne State College student, attended the Haunted Trail
this year.

“It was cold and kind of windy, but the trail was a lot of fun and had a really great atmosphere,” Bitter said. “Even though it was cold, I was glad I went.”
