Are you ready to write?

WSC Writing Club isn’t just for English majors.

Under the supervision of club advisor and Wayne State professor, Dr. Stephanie Marcellus, the writing club is open to any student that enjoys reading or writing.

“The club is free to join and open to all students,” club president Courtney Upah said. “We are a club for writers or anyone interested in writing.”

Though writing is in the name, the club goes beyond just editing papers.

“We are an extremely open club so new ideas dealing with reading and writing are always welcomed,” said Upah.

In the Writing Club workshops, students not only write, but also discusses their writing. The club also judged the Willycon writing contest, as well as held a poetry reading near the Kanter Student Center where members handed out poetry on cards to those walking by.

The Writing Club meets Mondays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Humanities second floor lounge.

The club will be hosting the English Festival on April 18th in the Frey Conference Suite in the Student Center from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“There will be a poetry contest with prizes, snacks, a book exchange, a typewriter/craft station, as well as featured readers and an open mic,” Upah said.
