I’m going to say something that will (maybe) blow everyone’s mind: I don’t wear makeup to impress boys.

When I was 15 that might’ve been the case, but it’s not anymore. I don’t spend hours looking up makeup tutorials on YouTube so I can perfectly blend a pink and brown combination on my eyes so that I can impress Brad with them.

I don’t fill in my eyebrows because Josh likes the flick of da wrist. No. I do it because I think it’s a form of art.

Every morning (more or less) my face is a canvas and I can “paint” it however I want to, going from a 90s grunge look to a 50s pin up girl; the options are limitless.

There’s also a “Girls wear makeup to help with their self-esteem” rumor going around.

I can’t speak for everybody that wears makeup, but I know for me that rumor is not true. Again, that was my motive when I was 15, but things change. I like to believe that makeup merely enhances my features, like how mascara really makes my eyelashes pop or how my lipstick can make my lips look red or purple or brown.

Sure, makeup is also used to conceal zits and blemishes, but that’s to just merely help with the facial enhancements.

I am not ashamed to say that I have over $300 worth of makeup in my collection. That includes all of my expensive eye shadow palettes and various mascaras and many lipsticks.

Boys probably don’t even notice the awesome contouring in your face anyway. Most boys probably just think “she’s wearing pink eye shadow and has black stuff on her eyes too.”

If you start doing makeup for fun and not to impress boys, it will make your life so much easier.

After I started thinking that way, it became easier to go out in public without makeup on. I will always believe in the phrase “If he can’t accept you in sweatpants, he sure as hell doesn’t deserve you in a wedding dress” that Drake said.

I grew to love makeup so much that I started a blog about it. I upload my videos but I try to upload as often as I can. The website is www.appreciateyourbeauty.weebly.com.
