  • Students from Professors Chris Tee Weixelman and Jan Dinsmore’s EDU 150 education class presented their diversity projects as a part of the state’s multicultural requirements to gather activities and books that can be used for their own classrooms.

  • African Student Association member Kelsi Anderson explains to Kayla Sullivan about their project to hand knit hats to take over to Uganda, Africa for Amani orphans. They have made 65 hats so far and hope to hit 70 by the end of the week.

  • Member of Latinos Uniting Sam Ossian demonstrates to professor Chris Tee Weixelman the importance of their current trip to La Vista, NE for a Latinos conference.

  • K – 12 art education major, Lexi Malm justifies her research to Professor Jan Dinsmore on the various art projects she observed in Wakefield, NE that highlights the overwhelming increase of Hispanic students in the Midwest school systems.

  • Sophomore elementary education Major Sarah Dillon learns more about the Native American culture by making dream weavers.

  • President Curt Frye listens to Brittney Coren’s experience participating in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program that made a big influence on her acclaimed “little sister” Eliza.

  • K – 12 art education major Kari Kollars shares her experience with the Habitat for Humanity program. She volunteered to restore an insufficient household in Yankton, SD for a family that was down on their luck during the approaching winter season.

  • Early childhood education major Kaci Walczak illustrates her respect for the Omoho Nation by using their intricate bead work to create lessons for her future preschool students.

  • K – 8 education student Lachel Milander defines her after school program for youth at risk with professor Chris Tee Weixelman.

  • Sophomore K – 8 education student Kaitlyn Brezina describes how she can diversify her classroom with Native American projects at this year’s Diversity Fair that took place in the Student Center atrium on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
