The WSC Theatre Department is sending 10 students to The American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) next week in Des Moines, IA.

Once there the students will be given the opportunity to develop their theatre skills to achieve professionalism.

The students will be able to attend workshops that give more insight for things such as Acting and Directing, Design and Technology and Playwriting and Stage Movements.

Students Hope Pedersen, Benjamin Bjorklund and Trevor McQuay will be competing in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Competition.

“ACTF is going to have many extraordinary experiences offered to us,” Pedersen said. “The competitors will get to experience auditioning in a professional setting, workshops on almost anything theatre related and many amazing plays to watch. All these events will better us, and we’ll be able to bring those experiences back to WSC.”

Other students attending the event are Eric Dalaviras, Zachery Halsey, Samantha Taylor, Amanda Hartman, Victoria McNamara, Abigail Ramold and Aahron Young. Theatre Director, Brian Begley and Adjunct Professor Mollie Spieker will also be attending.

The festival will be from Sunday through Friday.
